Simple Detox Drinks to Kick Start Your Fitness Routine

Detox drinks have been all the rage in the health and fitness world for quite a long time now. In fact, some people went so far as to consuming nothing but detox drinks for a few weeks in order to lose weight. Although that behaviour is certainly not healthy and is certainly not encouraged, consuming detox drinks as an addition to your weight loss routine can prove beneficial. 

So if you're looking for a way to kick start your fitness routine, try adding one or a few of these detox drinks to your routine. 

Honey, Lemon, And Ginger Detox

One of the simplest yet powerful detox drinks used ingredients that are probably already lying in your pantry. All you need to do is take ½ of a lemon, 1 tablespoon of honey, and ½ an inch of crushed ginger root, and mix them in a glass of warm water (not boiling). 

Drink it while it is still warm, preferably every morning. All three ingredients used in this drink provide various benefits for your metabolism as well as your immune system. Plus, they can also help reduce weight and fight obesity. This drink is also a much better way to wake yourself up in the morning as compared to heavily creamed coffee.

This is arguably the most common detox water you'll come across. Take 1 lemon (sliced into wedges), 1 cucumber (sliced), a few mint leaves, a pinch of salt, and add them into a jar with 1 litre of water. 

Refrigerate and sip throughout the day. It is a very refreshing drink that helps flush out the toxins from your body and provide a good dose of fibre without too many calories. Both these ingredients can help kick start your weight loss. 

Carrot and Orange Juice

This may sound a little weird but stick with it for a moment. Carrots are loaded with fibre and are also rich in beta-carotene. High-fibre foods help increase the feeling of fullness and subsequently decrease hunger. This can lead to you eating less throughout the day. On the other hand, oranges are rich in vitamin C, which is inversely associated with the body's mass. 

When combined with moderate exercise, adequate vitamin C intake can oxidize as much as 30% more fat. Therefore, both of these ingredients work well in helping you lose weight. Just take sliced carrots with peeled and chopped oranges and toss them into the food processor. Make sure to add a tablespoon of honey and some coriander leaves. Pour a little water as required and add ice before drinking. Don't worry, and the drink tastes much better than what you may expect. 

Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Drink

This one may be a little hard to swallow, but it is definitely worth drinking on a regular basis. Apple cider vinegar is now known as a sort of miracle ingredient that has various health benefits. It is rich in calcium, potassium, magnesium, and other essential vitamins and minerals that help regulate gastrointestinal bacteria. 

As you can see, lemon is a very common ingredient when it comes to detoxes. This ACV and lemon detox drink can help the body get rid of unhealthy bacteria. All you need to do is mix in half a lemon and one tablespoon apple cider vinegar in a glass of lukewarm water and drink every day. If the smell of ACV is too strong, you can add a natural sweetener like honey or pure maple syrup to compensate. 

Green Tea and Lemon

If you're looking for a warm beverage that also works as a detox, look no further than a good old cup of green tea. Green tea is an excellent source of a dietary polyphenol known as catechin, which has strong anti-adiposity effects. Whereas the polyphenols found in lemon also significantly reduce weight gain. Just make a cup of green tea as usual and squeeze the juice of ¼ lemon in it before drinking. 

Strawberry and Cinnamon Detox

Strawberries contain a bioactive polyphenol known as ellagic acid that may help manage obesity and other complications. You'll need about 7 to 8 strawberries, 1 cinnamon stick, a few mint leaves, and 1-liter water for this drink. 

Cut the strawberries into quarters before throwing them in a jar, followed by the cinnamon stick and mint leaves. Pour the water into the jar and leave it in the fridge overnight. Drink it cold throughout the next day for a refreshing drink that can rejuvenate your body.

Add in a few leaves of mint if you feel like it as well. Refrigerate overnight and drink it throughout the next day for a refreshing drink full of antioxidants. With this detox water, you can experiment with different flavours and never get bored of the same drink on a daily basis.
